• Instant Runoff Voting (IRV)
  • With IRV voters select a first choice and a second choice candidate, if no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote then the system takes the second place votes from the candidate with the least votes and reapplies them as first choice votes. IRV gives the winning candidat a larger constituency and provides other benefits as well.
• Flexible Voter Authentication.  With any online voting system, you must ensure that no voter casts multiple votes so each voter must be autenticated with a unique Voter ID and Password/PIN.  Elexpert offers the most flexibility for voter authentication
  • Standad database: With database authentication, you provide a list of Voter IDs and PINs to load into our system. These must be machine generated and we can provide guidance on effective ways to create this information just by concatenating parts of the voter's name, birthdate, etc. This information can not be IDs or Passwords in use on your campus and they can not be part of the voter's educational record (to maintain FERPA compliance)
  • Microsoft Active Directory: Elexpert can authenticate your voters against your own Active Directory. This option does not require voter data to be transferred to our servers.
  • Lightweight Directory Access Protocol: Elexpert can authenticate your voters against your own LDAP. This option does not require voter data to be transferred to our servers.
  • Yale Central Authentication Service: If your school does not have a CAS server, you really should look into this even if you do not use Elexpert for your online elections. Elexpert is fully CAS enabled. With CAS, not only do you not have to transfer any voter data to our servers, our servers never handle any sensitive or identifying data on your voters.
